The Orthodontic Exchange Community Standards

The Orthodontic Exchange is designed to be a trusted professional community where members can ask questions, exchange experiences, discuss ideas, and learn from one another.

By participating in The Orthodontic Exchange, we ask every member to follow these standards:

  1. No Patient Information. Ever.

    No names, faces, dates of birth, record numbers, or other identifying information—in text, photographs, screenshots, or documents you attach. Check every file before uploading it. Headers, footers, and file metadata can reveal more than you realize.

    If it could identify the patient, it does not belong here.

  2. Discuss the Problem, Not the Person.

    Bring the case type, the mechanics, and what you have tried. Colleagues are here to think with you. Keep the discussion clinical, constructive, and respectful—challenge the approach, not the individual.

  3. Answer the Question That Was Asked.

    A concise answer from experience can be more useful than a long answer from theory. Distinguish evidence from experience and opinion. If you are uncertain or assuming, say so. Good professional discussion does not require false certainty.

  4. Respect What Is Shared Here.

    The Exchange is a trusted professional community. Do not reproduce, screenshot, distribute, or share another member's posts, clinical discussions, images, or member-only content without appropriate permission. Only share materials you own or have permission or legal authority to share.

  5. One Network. No Selling.

    The Exchange is for professional discussion, not promotion or solicitation. Relevant discussion of products, technologies, vendors, and services is welcome. If you have a financial, consulting, employment, ownership, speaking, or other commercial interest in something you recommend, disclose it clearly in your reply.

  6. Use Your Independent Professional Judgment.

    The Exchange is a place for professional education, discussion, and peer exchange. Forum conversations do not replace appropriate examination, diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, consultation, or your independent professional judgment.

Ask questions. Share experience. Offer perspective. Support colleagues. Mentor others. Be open to learning from members at different stages of their careers.
